Parish News Round-Up Coronation Special

The Church of Scotland’s two London congregations came together on Sunday for a joint service to celebrate the Coronation.
The service was held in Crown Court Church of Scotland, Covent Garden, and conducted jointly by the Rev Scott Rennie, minister at Crown Court, and the Rev Angus Macleod, minister at St Columba’s Church in Knightsbridge. The guest preacher was The Very Rev David Fergusson, Dean of the Chapel Royal in Scotland. The Rev Alistair Cumming, Clerk to the Presbytery of England and the Channel Islands, was also in attendance.
Choirs from both churches were joined by members of the Robin Chapel Choir. The lessons were read by Prof Bert Kerrigan KC, chair of the Thistle Trust and Susan Pym, Moderator of the Presbytery.
Amongst the 170 people who attended were the Secretary of State for Scotland, The Rt Honourable Alister Jack and Mrs Ann Jack.

The West Kirk of Calder and Polbeth Harwood Church held a special service to celebrate the Coronation on Sunday, followed by an afternoon tea.
Hamilton Bardrainney Church held a Coronation Concert and Afternoon Tea the weekend before the Coronation. The afternoon was enjoyed by over 100 people, with entertainment provided by the local Clydeside Singers.
Falkland and Freuchie churches celebrated the coronation with a joint service on serving others at Freuchie Church, followed by a high tea.
The cake at Stranraer Parish Church’s Coronation celebration was cut by Winnie Brown, who was celebrating her 95th birthday that day.
Dunfermline: St Ninian’s held a Coronation Tea, with proceeds going to Christian Aid. More than £300 was raised.
