Tearfund: Lent Devotional 35

All shall be well

‘Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.’ (Psalm 30:5)

My country knows what it is to weep. We have suffered the unthinkable; we have borne the unbearable.

And yet… we also know what it is to wake up to a new day. We know what it is to rejoice. We have seen reconciliation and redemption where such things may have seemed impossible.

I have seen such things here – things made well despite the weight of unimaginable suffering. I know, therefore, that things can be made well wherever you may be; whatever you may have been through.

This is because God is our Great Redeemer. The Almighty Restorer. The Unrivalled Healer. He can heal our wounds, take away our sorrows, and wipe away our tears.

It may take time. It may even take a long time. Yet all shall be well. Our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

God of redemption, I lift my weeping to you, and the weeping of the nations. Hear our cries, O Lord. Hear our pleas for deliverance, and come quickly to make all things well. Amen.
