24th July 2007

Well, trying to run a blog on the website wasn't very successful - nor was it a very good blog! I've changed it to a news section which will give updates on events locally and at Church. Back from Austria, we went to Carnoustie Church for the joint service last Sunday. (Only flew in on Saturday evening, so had arranged for pulpit supply). The poor weather and the Open Championship chaos meant that the congregation was down in numbers - but well done to Barry members for a good representation there! And what a Championship the Open was this year! Would Garcia hang on? Would Els or Romero surge to a fantastic finish? Would the Barry Burn deny another champion? And in the end Padraig Harrington came through for a magnificent finish. We will see Sergio Garcia lift the claret jug in the future, surely, but a worthy 2007 winner from Ireland. Things are quiet in the Church just now, but not for long. Just a couple of weeks to the Holiday Club in the Philip Hall, and then the midweek and evening services restart again. This Sunday will be our last joint service in Carnoustie before we host the services in Barry for August. |
